Their pate chauds are amazing and well priced. The service is great as well. The inside has a traditional Vietnamese homey feel and the outside has a decent sized lot that it shares with other stores. I will always be back!

I went in on a weekend around 3:30pm on the pickings were slim to none lol. I got what I came for though, which were the pate chaud. They had a little bit over 10 left so I grabbed 10 pieces at $1.25 each! You can't beat the price there!! The yummy meat pastry was crispy, light, and airy with each bite. The meat ratio was perfect and was well seasoned. We toasted up in the oven and it was good to go! The parking lot is tight and parking is difficult. But we got lucky. There's really no where to dine inside. Ambiance is more grab and go. Service was good.. she spoke the product I wanted so that was good. She knew what I wanted

Their pate chaud (meat pie) was a hit at a birthday party. Everyone loved it so much that it was gone in less than an hour. The pastries had the right amount of meat and flakiness. Also to mention, the price was super reasonable. Will definitely be ordering these again.

A bit of a warning, the parking space is quite busy and tight due to the Lee's Supermarket. Best practice is to park a bit more farther and just walk - it'll be worth it. This is my to go spot for sugar cane juice and they do not water down the drink unlike the place at the Grand Century mall. The sugar cane drink with calamansi is my personal favorite. The cost averages around $7-$8 per drink. This place is ran by a few folks and they are nice and patient if you have any questions. The place is full of Vietnamese products but no places to sit down to chill.

I'm totally addicted to pate chaud those flaky crispy miniature meat pies comes in either pork and veggies best of all it's only $1.25 a piece where the hell can you find a place that is so cheap yet so affordable. Came by this morning wasn't too busy the lady in charge was very friendly and I chose 10 pork chaud and they do go by fast. They do have banh mi for $6, spring rolls and take out meals. Definitely be back for more ample parking very light traffic on a Friday morning maybe best to come by on weekday than on a weekend.

Vien Dong has an unassuming exterior, but they serve a mean pate chaud. For a $1.25 a piece, I think the pate chauds at Vien Đồng are one of the greatest values in San Jose. The savory pastry is crumbly on the outside and fluffy on the inside. It's delicious, but I wish there was more meat filling. For a $1.25 though, I think it's hard to complain. They're a great option for a cheap, quick meal you can eat at any time of the day. I also saw they had $6 banh mi, a là carte ready to eat Vietnamese hot foods, and Vietnamese coffee as well. I'll be sure to try those next time I stop by!

Good little pork pate chauds $1.25 here. We ordered eight of the square ones and four of the triangle ones. We already ate some Cambodian noodles earlier but found room for some pate chauds. These will probably not be good the next day so we had to hurry. We ate all of them on the way from SJ to SF. Good times.

The pate chaud is very good here. Lots of layers with a flakey crust. It reminds me of a mini shepard's pie. The staff here do not speak English, so just point at what you want. They take cash only! They also no longer sell sugarcane juice at this location.

3.5 stars but rounding up to support a small business. I happened to see Vien Dong while I was in the area, and decided to stop by since I love trying out new banh mi places. They weren't busy yet at 12:15pm on a Sunday; however, a few customers walked in a couple of minutes after me, and I'm assuming they have a lot of customers coming in and out. They only had one worker at the time, but she made my order quickly. I ended up trying: -Pâté Chaud ($1.25/each, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=44jY2LYj5YvimL9kx0jgVA&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Solid version of pâté chaud, and I loved how airy and flaky the pastry was. You could still taste the butter, but it wasn't too heavy. The filling was flavorful; however, it could've used a bit more filling. Still recommended! -#5: Bánh Mì Thịt Nướng/Grilled Pork ($6, https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=HMBwv8NTA2rjx8gpCQg5FQ&userid=76vIFZcC7owykCBjMfGVXg): Pretty good version of bánh mì, where all the components were good, but not amazing. I wouldn't go out of my way to get their bánh mì, but would order it again if in the area. In addition to bánh mì, they also had a variety of pre-cooked food in steam trays available for combo rice plates. Only indoor seating was available. Their staff was wearing a mask, but it was only partially covering their face. Parking was easy to find in this lot since there were plenty of spots.
